In a press release issued by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the EEOC claimed to have recovered $345 million in monetary relief from private sector employers as a result of discrimination charges filed with the Commission in 2007. Of the $345 million, $55 million was obtained through EEOC litigation and $290 million as a result of administrative enforcement. In addition to the monetary relief, the agency required and obtained substantial non-monetary relief which included employer training, policy implementation, reasonable accommodations, and other measures to promote discrimination-free workplaces.
